However, these fatty acids must be derived from external sources of food in our daily diet as, unlike other fats, our body cannot synthesize TrueBasics Omega 3 by itself.

Omega-3 Fatty acids form an integral part
of the cell membrane throughout the body and contribute to cell receptors’
functioning in these membranes. These cell receptors help produce hormones that
regulate blood clotting, aid contraction and relaxation of the artery walls,
and regulate inflammation.

Due to these factors, omega-3 fatty acids have been proven to promote heart health, improve bone health, boost mental development and protect against cancer and many lifestyle diseases. They have also been proven to play a vital role in preventing cardiovascular diseases, aid vision, improve the immune system, help in treating joint pains, besides offering several other health benefits.

The Omega 3 fatty acids are a family of
polyunsaturated fats that consists of three main components. These are —
Alpha-linolenic Acid (ALA), Eicosapentaenoic Acid (EPA) and Docosahexaenoic Acid (DHA).

Out of these, the EPA and DHA are majorly
found in fish and sea algae; hence, they are also called marine Omega-3’s. ALA
is most commonly found in leafy vegetables, vegetable oils, nuts, and seeds
such as — Flaxseed and Flaxseed oil.

Studies have shown that the EPA and DHA
react better in the human body as compared to ALA. The World Health
Organization (WHO) suggests an intake of 1-2 fish per week. Consuming fish
twice a week is not feasible for the masses, and hence Omega 3 supplementation
in the form of capsules becomes essential. These supplements are a great way to
maintain the required levels of the nutrient and maintain good health.

Omega 3 Fatty Acids are a family of polyunsaturated fats that are considered essential fats needed by our body for its normal and healthy functioning.
