Niacinamide, an active form of vitamin B3, is an essential component of modern skincare. It protects the skin against oxidative stress by building an epidermal barrier. It also inhibits melanin production and visibly brightens skin tone.

UV rays emitted by the sun cause generation of free radicals, which further increases activity of tyrosinase, an enzyme that stimulates the production of melanin responsible for pigmentation. Tyrostat&trade;-09, extracted from a perennial herb found in Asia called Rumex occidentalis, is said to inhibit tyrosinase activity and to block the excess formation of melanin. It has been reported as an ideal depigmenting agent.
